Cas, this isn’t you. We’re family. We need you - I need you.

photography au || deancas

Dean Winchester has met a boy.  This one is different.
Cas likes to hide his face for photographs.   Nobody can tell Dean why.  Every time he has a question, he takes another picture, and pretends that it’s some sort of answer.
They travel Europe together after six months of knowing eachother.  Dean says he wants to take Castiel’s picture everywhere.  Sometimes, when Dean wakes up at night, and the clock reads small numbers, he sees Castiel looking out their hotel window.  The entire city is reflected in his tears.
Castiel is the biggest mystery Dean has ever tried to solve.  Like a puzzle whose pieces change shape as you put it together.  They keep running.  Australia, then the Cook Islands after that, buying tickets to South America upon their arrival.  Castiel wants to keep going.
Dean realizes he is traveling with a stranger.  He looks into his photographs and he sees someone he met once, maybe, in a dream, or a past life.  Castiel says he’s in love.  Dean echos the words back and hopes that they’re true.
One night, on a small beach off the coast of Thailand, with the sand gritting between their interlocked fingers, Castiel decides to tell him everything.  His mother - dead.  His father - gone.  His brothers - the same.  His hope - undefined.
"I thought I had died too, until I met you."
It is the most important night of Dean’s life.  Walls crash around them; massive pillars and iron gates collapsing.
For the first time in his life, Dean tells Cas that he loves him, and it’s true.

What did you see?
That there comes a time, Time Lord, when every lonely little boy must learn how to dance.
